If the car isn't leaking coolant, it is burning it.
Also, simply touching the carpet won't help you, you need to lift it to check the insulation is dry.
My 400,000klm old KL burnt coolant for a little bit due to a stuck thermostat ****ing the head gasket. It ran quite well until it didnt.
I would also check the centre of the V as the tubing in the middle has 2 seals that can leak.
